Alaskan Cruise Packing List

When we started researching what to bring on our Alaskan cruise, it was so hard to find the right information. After the cruise, I made a list of what we actually used and enjoyed. I wanted to share that with you.

Items to help with packing. We were really nervous to check all of our luggage. We had a connecting flight and wanted to make sure nothing got lost. I packed 90 percent of everything in carry ons. Everything in the carry ons was exactly what we had to have. The rest of the 10 percent was extra things we wanted, but could do without. That went into a large checked bag. I was thankful we planned this way. All of our luggage made it, but on the ladies on our cruises Facebook group lost her luggage and had to make due. That would be awful!

Here is some things we really enjoyed from Amazon. These are our affiliate links, which helps support our little blog and youtube. Thanks for your support!

Vacuum Seal Bags. These were amazing!! We were able to pack four people into four carry ons. Including heavy jackets and many bulky items. The suitcases were heavy but easily fit into the overhead bin.

Luggage Tags. Waterproof and heavy duty. Great for travel.

Water Proof Spray We all have waterproof hiking boots but wanted regular sneakers to walk around in as well. The hiking boots went into the checked bag and I needed to make sure everyone would be okay walking in their normal shoes in the rain. I use this spray on all my nice purses and it was great for sneakers too!

Disposable Poncho. This may sound silly, but on port days were no rain was expected I stuck these in our bags. It took up way less room then a regular rainjacket and came in handy for a surprise storm.

Shoe Bags. These little bags were amazing! We stuck dirty shoes in them for packing, keeping our room cleaned and I also used them for anything yucky.

Merino Wool Socks. These little socks are not thick but they keep your toes toasty! But not sweaty.

Merino Wool Beanie. I wore this little hat all the time! It is small and easy to stick in a bag if you get hot. It kept me so warm when I was cold. It comes in all sorts of fun colors!

Merino Wool Gloves.

Alaskan Cruise Door Magnet. These were so much fun! I’ve never put magnets on our door on any cruise but this was really fun. It helped us find our door easily. Our kids were able to sometimes go back to the room on their own and this also helped them spot our room easily. Now they decorate our fridge in the basement.

Travel Laundry Detergent. I washed undies, socks, etc in the bathtub in our room. These little travel suds were great!

Cruise Lanyard. My girls loved being able to carry around their ship card with them.

USB Travel Port. I never travel without this. Between everyones devices, it comes in super handy! You arent allowed to bring surge protectors but we had no issue with this.

Travel Air Purifier. We also never leave home without this. So many rooms have air issues and our cruise room was no exception. Vancouver also had wildfires, causing air quality issues.

Magnetic Hooks. These stuck on our cruise cabin walls and were great for anything that need drying, or winter jackets etc.

Packing List:

Winter jackets (we live in Atlanta so ours arent that heavy duty)

Sweaters, I used the more dressy ones for days at sea.

Jeans

Leggings , lined and unlined

Running Shoes

Water proof hiking shoes

Long and short sleeve shirts (we found layering to be VERY important)

Swimsuits and flipflops

A nice dress for formal night

Some nicer shoes

4 or 5 Sweatshirts (I lived in these and enjoyed having several)

Plenty of socks

A small bag, like a Lululemon fanny, for walking around the boat

Everyone in our party had one backpack, that had to be okay as a carryon, for anything extra they wanted. We brought journals, ipads, coloring stuff, playing cards and a Nintendo Switch.

We did not use or need much room organization. Our main goal was so pack less, and it worked great.

Leave in the comments what I forgot or if you have any questions! Happy travels!
